The Friends of the General Cemetery was set-up to help preserve the General Cemetery and the North Warren (Non-Conformist) Cemetery with the kind help of Gainsborough Town Council.
The General Cemetery is situated on Cox’s Hill in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire. And the North Warren Cemetery is on Ropery Road. Both cemeteries have graves recognised by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
Final book in Gainsborough’s War Story series released. The book costs £15 and if you would like to order a copy, please email: firstname.lastname@example.org
The General Cemetery Chapel will be open for the West Lindsey Churches Festival on the 11-12th May, Saturday 10am-3pm, Sunday 10am-3pm
Can you help?
We have a list of servicemen whose relatives we are trying to trace. Ideally, we need the permission of relatives to be able to restore these headstones. We’ve created a page for each of them giving photos (if we have them) and more details.
The Friends of Gainsborough Cemeteries and Chapel is a small charity run by volunteers. Contact: Susan Edlington
The Friends are working to restore the headstones of servicemen who served in WWI.
We can help with Family history research requests.
Twice a year, in May and November, we open the Chapel for an exhibition.
